William Daddano, Sr. was a top enforcer and loan-shark for the Chicago Outfit. He was sent to prison where he died 3 months after Giancana.

Anthony D’Andrea was the Mob Boss of the Sicilian Gang. He also became the President of the Unione Siciliana. He also began The Alderman’s Wars (1916-1921) when he ran against the very popular John Powers. He was shot to death while coming home in 1921.

Mario DeStefano was the younger brother of Sam DeStefano. Mario was a primary enforcer. He was suspected in both of his brother’s murders, but was never charged. He died of a heart attack while awaiting a retrial in a murder case.

Sam DeStefano was a mobster who had a reputation of being extremely violent, ruthless and cruel. He was also reportedly a psychopath. He eventually got too crazy, drawing unwanted attention to himself and the Outfit, and was gunned down by Tony Spilotro.

Vincent Drucci was a close associate of Dean O’Banion, until his murder by Torrio. Then the North Side Gang was headed by Hymie Weiss, Bugs Moran and Drucci. Drucci was killed by Chicago Police while in custody.

Mobster and Bank Robber
Fred Goetz, AKA “Shotgun” George Zeigler, was a suspected participant in the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. He raped a 7 year old when he was 25 and jumped bail. He would soon become mentored by some prominent gangsters. After the 1929 Valentine’s Day Massacre, he left for Kansas City, becoming a bootlegger and bank robber. He helped out the Barker Gang and Alvin Karpis. He returned to Chicago and was blasted in the face at close range by a 12 gauge.

Frank Gusenberg was a principal hitman for the North Side Gang. He was also one of the victims of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. WILLIAM JACKSON (1920-1961) – GRAVE

Mobster
William “Action” Jackson started working for the Outfit in the 1950s. He worked as a loan “juice” collector for Sam DeStefano. He was accused of working as an informant for the FBI, and was tortured for days by his fellow mobsters, eventually dying from his horrific wounds. They beat him, burned him with a blowtorch, used a cattle prod on his genitals, shot him, stabbed him and put a meat hook up his anus and hung him completely off the ground. The Chicago Outfit later learned that he was NOT an FBI informant.

Jake Lingle was a journalist with the Chicago Tribune. He was what was known as a legman, one who uncovered the information and phoned it in. He was murdered in broad daylight one day in downtown Chicago. It became known afterwards, that Lingle was also involved in mob activities.

Michael Cassius McDonald has long been considered to have been Chicago’s Very First Mob Boss, re-organizing Chicago’s individual gangs. He came to Chicago after the Civil War and soon established a crime empire as well as a political machine. Although the Chicago Fire destroyed his holdings, he rebuilt and became a very wealthy man. He got rid of the illegal ventures as he got older and moved into legitimate businesses.

Gambling Boss
James Patrick O’Leary was born in the house on 137 DeKoven Street, where the Great Chicago Fire would start. His mother was Catherine O’Leary of the famous cow kicking over the lantern starting the Chicago Fire thing. He initially ran a illegal gambling boat out on Lake Michigan. Over time he became the gambling boss of Chicago’s southwest side. He died of natural causes.

Mobster
William “Butch” Petrocelli was a member of the Wild Bunch, who controlled much of the gambling in Chicago. Petrocelli was given control of the horse tracks, but he soon became arrogant and lavish, attracting unwanted attention. He was murdered by the Outfit.

Rocco Pranno was born in Stone Park, which at the time was a poorer neighborhood. Because of this Stone Park was vulnerable to crime and Pranno took advantage of that. He ran Stone Park as his own, turning the village into a mob town in the 1960’s.

Gang Boss & Businessman
James Ragen, Sr. was the leader of the Irish gang, Ragen’s Colts, which also worked in political malfeasance. Ragen ran Moses Annenberg’s racing wire service in Chicago, until the Chicago Outfit decided it wanted the wire services. He died when he received a mysterious dose of mercury.

Frank Rio was Al Capone’s Personal Bodyguard. He had a reputation of being able to stay out of jail. He may have been the one to uncover the plot by Giunta, Scalise and Anselmi to kill Capone. He died of natural causes.

Gambling Czar
Theodore “Teddy” Roe ran an illegal gambling empire on the South Side during the 1940s and 1950s. He was known as Robin Hood because he helped out the neighborhood people. In 1951, Roe killed Mobster Fat Lenny Caifano when he tried to kidnap him. Fat Lenny was the brother of Capo Marshall Caifano. He was shotgunned outside his home at 5239 S. Michigan Avenue.

AL TORNABENE (1923-2009) – GRAVE

High Ranking Mobster
Al Tornabene started Villa Nova Pizzeria in Stickney in 1955. Since, it has been consistently ranked as one of the best pizzas in Chicago. Tornabene was also a mobster, who helped run the Outfit when James Marcello was in prison. Although he was targeted in the Operation Family Secrets investigation, he was never charged.

ROGER TOUHY (1898-1959)

Mobster
Roger Touhy was a bootlegger who originally sold alcohol to Capone. Over time, friction developed between the two. Touhy was framed for a murder in 1933 and spent 25 years behind bars. He was gunned down less than a month later. He is interred by his siblings, who used the old spelling of their last name, Towey. Roger Touhy’s name is not on the headstone.

After the death of Dion O’Banion, Weiss, Bugs Moran and Vincent Drucci ran the North Side Gang. Hymie was gunned down in front of Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago by the South Side Gang, with Machine Gun Jack probably being one of the shooters.
