The Chicago Wolves is the lone independent franchise in the American Hockey League (AHL). The AHL is primarily used as the developmental league for the NHL. The Wolves originally joined the International Hockey League (IHL) in 1994, and played in that League until the IHL went belly up in 2001, then it joined the AHL. The Wolves won 2 Turner Cups (IHL) in 1998 and 2000, and won 3 Calder Cups (AHL) in 2002, 2008 and 2022.
