European man was first recorded coming to the Chicago area in 1673, when Louis Joliet and Father Jacques Marquette “discovered” the Chicago Portage, where t he Great Lakes in essence meet the Mississippi River. However, this area had been previously inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years before our time. Our historical tours involve a historical event, whether that involved the Native Americans or early European colonists, and even early American history.
